The State of Massachusetts, USAPart of a year long trip from Sept ’94 - Sept ’95 through 36 USA States and 2 Canadian Provinces by Jean and Graham Beven in ‘Serendipity’ their 30 foot Winnebago Chieftain. Massachusetts -Round Trip USA We only 8 days in the state of Massachusetts, USA as there were only a few places on our must see list of places to visit. There are however six National Wildlife Refuges, eleven National Parks and ---- State Parks in the state of Massachusetts. The State Tourist Office for the state of Massachusetts, USA is: Massachusetts Division of Tourism - 100 Cambridge St. Boston MA 02202 ~~~~~~~~~~ 27th August 1995 From Portland, New Hampshire. to Raynham Centre, in the state of Massachusetts. via Beverly, Massachusetts. Basically a travelling and domestic day, 134 miles. Beverly was a ‘thickly settled’ region . Overnight at Wal-Mart, Raynham, MA .
Did more fishing when we got back to Raynham, MA. Overnight at Wal-Mart again. A warm day with a pleasant warm wind. 29th From Raynham, MA. to East Wareham via Cape Cod. Did the whole round trip of Cape Cod today. A little surprised as to how much sea we saw! Only saw one other vehicle on the cape – thought there must be a storm warning or something else we missed! At the National Park we were able to look across the ocean – Hundreds of lobster pot buoys bobbing around. We also visited the historic site south of Wellfleet, where Marconi sent his first transatlantic message to Cornwall, UK in 1901. 30th 31st and 1st September Scusset Beach, Massachusetts. Spent a couple of days on the beach. Fishing - 6 Pumpkinseed caught and eaten! Not a lot else. 2nd Moved down to Fairhaven, Massachusetts. Stayed 3rd and 4th. Fishing and relaxing. 5th September left Massachusetts, USA and headed to Rhode Island.

28th
Today we visited Plymouth Rock where the first pilgrims landed. THe
actual rock that they are supposed to have stepped onto is protected
by a roof supported by tall columns. Overlooking this is a bronze statue
of the first native American to 'welcome' the Pilgrim Fathers. Also
in the harbour was the Mayflower II, a replica of the ship that the
pilgrim fathers arrived in. 
The craft had just completed a replica
Atlantic crossing.
